Gents Casio Pro Trek Strap Watch – PRW-1300-1VER Review

The Gents Casio PRW-1300-1VER is part of Casio’s Pro Trek range of watches. These Casio watches are aimed at the outdoor consumer and have a number of Casio’s advanced features to aid adventurous types. For starters, this watch features Casio G-Shock technology. This comprises of a combination of rubber and steel case parts and a recessed, toughened mineral glass to prevent breakage. Inside the case, the Casio PRW-1300-1VER has small ‘springs’ at certain positions around the watch module to absorb shocks before the movement does. This, like the rest of the Casio G-SHOCK range, makes the watch very durable. Add to this a black resin strap and a 100 metre water resistant case and it becomes a great watch for outdoor strap

Besides the obvious quality of the case, the watch also features Casio Pro Treks advanced watch functions. These include a thermometer, displaying the surrounding temperature in a digital format on the dial (ranges between -10°C / +60°C). This watch also includes a sensor for measuring barometric pressure and a digital compass with a graphical direction pointer to help you find your way back. Another Casio Pro Trek function is the 10,000 metre altimeter with a High Altitude and Low Altitude memory. This measures the air pressure and uses it to work out your current altitude. The great explorers features don’t stop there. The watch will also withstand temperatures as low as -10°C.

The Gents Casio Pro Trek PRW-1300-1VER also features the Casio Wave Ceptor technology to ensure perfect timekeeping. The watch will automatically detect a signal from various radio transmitters around the world that will correct the time of the watch automatically at 2.00 AM and then at five further intervals, should the signal be poor. The Time Calibration signal can be received in Europe; North America; Canada; Central America and Japan.

Another great addition to this Gents Pro Trek watch is the inclusion of Casio Tough Solar capability. The watch will recharge itself using surrounding light and also has a current charge indicator. This Gents Casio Pro Trek watch also has power saving functions including a fully automatic EL backlight which only comes on when surrounding light is insufficient. If the watch is left in the dark for an extended period of time the LCD is switched off to conserve power.
